The Lynch Family were among the earliest land holders in Eastern Baltimore County. As time progressed, they decided to ensure that the residents of the area bearing their name would have open spaces for play and leisure. To that end, William Grace Lynch deeded in Trust the places now known as the Lynch Point Playground and the Grace Road Ball Field to the residents of Lynch Point. The Lynch Point Improvement Association was formed in August of 1946, for the purpose of maintaining and bettering the part of Edgemere occupying the Lynch Point Peninsula in the spirit of the Lynch Trust. As a non-profit organization, the LPIA depends heavily on dedicated volunteer members of the neighborhood and local businesses. It has oversight control of the Lynch Point Playground and the Grace Road Ball Field. The LPIA pays the fees for the grass mowing of the Ball Field & Playground and the electric bill for the lights on the Ball Field. Funds to support these costs and other projects are raised within the community and by the generous donations of local business. Meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month and held in the Playground Club House on River Drive Road. For more information, call Ray Rudacille at, 410-388-1669. |
